St. John’s Launches 100th Anniversary Celebrations

June 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the St. John’s RC Church in Mesopotamia and places to celebrate this historic milestone were formally launched on Tuesday December 6, 2022, via a media launch at the church.

The morning began with an opening prayer by Fr. Amobi Kizito Igwebudu which was followed by a rendition of the national anthem led by Jozel Miguel.

The keynote address which included a brief history of the church was given by Monsignor Michael Stewart, the priest in charge of St. John’s. There were also brief remarks by Bishop Gerard County, Hon. Curtis King, the member of parliament with responsibility for ecclesiastical affairs, and Pastor Errol Daniel and Mrs. Daniel of Streams of Power Church and Praise FM Radio.

Present also at the gathering were Hon. St Clair Jimmy Prince, parliamentary representative for Marriaqua and Hon. Frederick Stephenson, parliamentary representative for South Windward along with members of the various media outlets and other invited persons.

Closing the proceedings with a prayer was Fr. Peter Emmanuel and a blessing by Bishop County. After which all were invited to refreshments in the parish hall by Mrs. Cheryl G. Rodriguez, the master of ceremonies.
