With the explosive eruption of La Soufriere volcano on Friday April 9, 2021 our country suffered considerable loss and continue to endure at the hands of this natural disaster.
We saw the sudden movement of people from the northern areas to the ‘safe zone’. Many of these persons, our brothers and sisters are in shelters spread throughout the island. Many are also in private homes. They all need our help.
How You Can Help
A disaster fund has been established for monetary contributions.
Direct deposits or transfers can be sent to:
BOSVG Account #801414 – The Roman Catholic Bishop of Kingstown – Disaster Fund
What You Can Donate
Many shelters and private homes need mattresses, bed linens, clothes especially for men and boys, toys and other such items for children, wheelchairs, and children’s diapers. Food items as well as water are also required. Donations are being collected at the Cathedral. You can also indicate to have it collected.
You can also give of your time and talent by volunteering at a shelter to cook, clean, organize games and entertainment for the youth and the children or to simply lend a listening ear to those who may need it.
