Earlier this year, Dr. Cecelia Anzures, a long-time friend of Fr. Ron Knott, contacted him to inform that she was donating a car to the Diocese of Kingstown. By September, the car, a Smart Fortwo arrived in our Diocese. Dr. Anzures’ gift followed previous automobile donations from her and her late husband Jeffrey, in the form of a parish van for St. Benedict’s and Corpus Christi parishes, a bus for the St. Benedict’s Children’s Home and the Bishop’s vehicle.
The kindness of Dr. Anzures was first encountered in October 2015 when the couple responded generously to one of Fr. Ron’s Second Wind projects, namely World Youth Day 2016 (Krakow). Since then Bishop County has sent numerous expressions of gratitude to them both in response to their frequent contributions to various projects undertaken by Second Wind Guild. Further discussions with Fr. Ron resulted in the establishment of the Catholic Second Wind Guild ‘s Jeffery Antle Island Educational Fund in June of this year.
The smart car is now in use at the Cathedral parish and we sincerely thank Dr. Anzures for this generous donation.
